Sometimes there is an unexpected creation that is the best of both worlds. Take a bacon cheeseburger and replace the standard hamburger bun with 2 Krispy Kreme donuts, you get the infamous Luther Vandross burger. This amazing burger takes two popular food items and fuses it together into one crazy creation that packs flavor and calories.
The burger was offered by the Tree House Truck, a popular food truck in the Orlando Food Truck scene. Nicknaming it the BearGrrr, the burger was featured as a special on the Tree House Truck menu and is now retired. I should say semi-retired because I’m sure if enough people ask for the burger, it will make an appearance in the future.

Tree House BearGrrr aka Luther Vandross Burger – Tree House Truck’s signature 13 spice burger, bacon, cheese, all between 2 Krispy Kreme donuts
All I know is that it is a really great tasting burger and what makes it work is Tree House’s signature burger with 13 spices that compliments the sweetness of the Krispy Kreme donuts. It has a savory, salty, sweet taste going on and it all balances out into a great flavor as you devour the crazy concoction. I admit I have had about 3 of these from the Tree House Truck and it is mighty delicious. I have made my own Luther Burger in the past, but the 13 spices in this burger patty really makes the overall burger much more tastier.
The name Luther Vandross burger or Luther burger has mixed theories and questionable origins, but it is said that the late R&B singer-songwriter was a fan of this donut burger or was even the creator. I too am a fan and glad to see it has made it’s way to be served by an Orlando based food truck. If you are a skeptic you NEED to try it, don’t knock it before you do. I’ve seen it make a good impression for those who doubt it. If you need to still try this burger or are a lover of this creation, make sure to hit up the Tree House Truck on their Twitter @TREEHOUSETRUCK or Facebook page to have this burger on the menu once again.
