The Jamaica Food & Drink Festival Highlights Vibrant Culinary Scene in Kingston

In October 2017, I was invited to attend the Jamaican Food & Drink Festival in Kingston, Jamaica. For over a week, the vibrant culinary scene was celebrated at the Jamaican Food & Drink Festival which took place from October 21 to 29 with seven world class food events at seven iconic venues around Kingston. More than 45 talented chefs participated and cooked at this multi-location festival, highlighting local ingredients and Jamaican cuisine. I traveled to Kingston, Jamaica for my first time. Lucky for me, Delta Air Lines had a direct flight from Atlanta to Kingston, so it was an easy trip to make. The first two festival events were Porkpalooza and Chopstix, which took place before I was able to travel. I did attend the last 3 days of the festival to experience Crisp, Picante and Meet Street & The Market events. These were all delicious culinary experiences, showcasing the fusion of diverse cultures and the deep roots of food in Jamaica. From the flavorful food to the fun vibe of each event, the drinks …

Food photography has been a big focus of this blog over the years and I’ve enjoyed speaking and teaching photography at various conferences in the past. I’m very excited to announce that we’re throwing our next Capture the Bite food photography workshop NOW TO BE DETERMINED this November 16-18, 2018 at East End Market in Orlando, FL! Droolius 8 Year Blog Anniversary & Celebrating with Sushi Donuts

The middle of August marked the 8 year blog anniversary. I started to celebrate this anniversary with a giveaway, but I also had to keep up the tradition and celebrate with food. What better way than to celebrate with 8 mini sushi donuts? Poke Burri in Atlanta, GA makes some of the most creative sushi items and they have done it again with mini sushi donuts. I’ve featured a regular sized sushi donut before, but these minis are easier to eat and as my fiancé says, “too cute” not to share. The variety of toppings and sauces compliment the slices of tuna, salmon and spicy tuna. These mini sushi donuts are a specialty item and need to be ordered in advanced. Order ahead by sliding in the @PokeBurri DM’s and sending a message with your order. Droolius 7 Year Blog Anniversary

It’s hard to believe I started this blog 7 years ago. A project created to showcase my photography has turned into a brand, with opportunities to travel and also teach food photography. Speaking at conferences and teaching how to photograph food has become a regular occurrence in the past year. We hosted our first Capture the Bite workshop which was a success with food and travel influencers at Disney World. We have more photography workshops planned in the near future and those will be announced as details unfold. Ok enough reflecting, let’s get to the food! To celebrate this occasion we stopped at Jollibee, a Filipino fast food restaurant from the Philippines, for lunch with the family and ended with Halo Halo for dessert. No better way to celebrate than sharing this nostalgic Filipino dessert with my family who was in town for my uncle’s 90th birthday celebration and a mini-family reunion. “Halo Halo” means “mix mix”, which is what you do when eating this dessert. Ingredients include sweet beans, jellies, coconut jelly, fruits, covered …
