Food Truck Heaven at The Plaza Theatre Live – Event Coverage

The second Food Truck Heaven took place this past Saturday at The Plaza Theatre Live. The event was in conjunction with the Blue Oyster Cult Winter Holiday show and had a total of 13 gourmet food trucks. The food truck portion of this event was coordinated by The Plaza Theatre’s resident concessions vendor Kenny & Denny’s BBQ.   (click image to enlarge) In addition to each food trucks’ menu, they all had a sample menu item for $3 or $4 that gave patrons an opportunity to get a taste of multiple food truck menus. This was a great idea by the coordinators to have at the event to encourage visiting multiple food trucks. The event started at 5pm, which meant less than an hour for photos with disappearing daylight. Here’s some shots of the food trucks at the beginning of the event.   (click image to enlarge) Fork in the Road and Feast Beast   (click image to enlarge) Louie Bistro and Chutz Pah (Jewish)   (click image to enlarge) Brick & Fire Pizza, Swede …

Deep Fried Peanut Butter & Jelly – TreeHouse Truck – Photo of the Day Monday

Everything seems to taste better deep fried. The TreeHouse Truck, which is based in Orlando, FL has a growing menu of deep fried items such as Oreos, Twinkies, & bread pudding. Now they have added an item which was very popular on its first day out, the deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich, topped with flambe bananas. (click image to enlarge) Deep Fried PB&J with flambe bananas I had one of these yesterday at the Treehouse Truck, who was parked serving brunch items at the Maitland Farmers Market. This was their first time at this location and passerbyers seem to connect with their new brunch style menu. (I will be writing up a blog post about this day & will post later.)  One of the items that everyone kept reading out loud was, “Peanut Butter & Straw Jelly Deep Fried… wow that sounds good.” I replied, “Its even better when you taste it!” There were many who ordered this deep fried concoction and they loved it. From adults to children, they were all nodding …

Beer Battered Dipped, Deep Fried Hot Dog – The Old Salty Dog‎ – Sarasota, FL

Growing up I used to travel to Sarasota, FL to visit my favorite beach Siesta Key. Siesta Key is one of two locations in Sarasota that is home to The Old Salty Dog. The show Man vs. Food on the Travel Channel has featured The Old Salty Dog restaurant at their City Island location and both venues offer a menu with great food and atmosphere. What brought me back on a trip to Siesta Key was not only the powder white sand on the beautiful beach, but the appetizing Beer Battered Dipped and Deep Fried Hot Dog they serve at The Old Salty Dog. (click image to enlarge) This deep fried masterpiece is called the famous Salty Dog and is made with a quarter pound, foot long, hot dog that is unique to this restaurant because its their own recipe. Its dipped in a beer batter made with light beer and then deep fried. They have a list of toppings you can add on as you choose or you can have it a featured way …
