The infamous Donut King from Minneola, FL has heard the call from Orlando for their popular donuts and have finally opened up a second location in Winter Park. This is huge news for donut lovers who have made the drive 45 minutes West of Orlando. I’ve been photographing and writing about Donut King for a while now, so it’s great that to see that they’re expanding into Winter Park (geographically it’s in East Orlando). They are my favorite donuts and everyone should really taste how epic they are.

The new location is at 3716 Howell Branch Rd. Winter Park, FL and they are open 7 days a week. The current hours are 5am – 8pm, but that could change depending on the crowd that comes in early or late. I highly doubt they will be open 24 hours like the Minneola/Clermont location, but if they can sell donuts like they do in the original Donut King, then anything is possible.
Donut King plans to serve not only donuts, but breakfast sandwiches in the morning and their Castle Burger sliders. Be on the look out for those in the upcoming weeks. Nothing yet if they will serve their Signature Donut Burger, but we can hope.

These donuts are my favorite because of the dough. It’s all made in house and they are frying donuts to perfection. There’s a variety of flavors, glazes, and toppings available. If you’re a fan of bacon, try their maple bacon donut, which if you don’t see, they can always cook up bacon and add to a maple donut.

Donut King brews their coffee regularly so make sure to pick up a cup and pair it with your donuts.

Out of the variety of donuts you see here, my favorites are the glazed donuts (left row). Donut King’s glazed donuts have set the standard that I compare all glazed donuts to. They have not been beat yet on my travels around the U.S. or internationally on my donut quests. The donut just has a good texture and flavor, with the glaze having a balanced sweetness. Other flavors in this box are all great.

The red velvet donuts (middle) at Donut King are how I became addicted to this place. I would go all the time for these. I’ve expanded my donut palate and can appreciate all of their other donuts.

The Half & Half donut is half regular and half chocolate donut. It’s a little bit taller than a regular donut. Include it in your dozen when you order.

After I posted photos on Facebook and Instagram that the new Donut King was open, the graphic design group Platinum Creative came out for some donuts. This was their donut selection they shared. Great meeting you guys!

Donut King’s selection of donuts range from jelly or cream filled donuts, Boston Cream donuts, donuts topped with sprinkles, donuts topped with candy like Nerds or Sour patch kids, chopped up candy bars on donuts, blueberry donuts, red velvet donuts, strawberry glazed, chocolate donuts, chocolate on chocolate donuts, sour cream donuts (some say old fashion donuts), classic cake donuts, and so much more. Again, I recommend getting the glazed donut or the sugar and cinnamon donut to get a taste of the quality of the fried dough itself.

I can talk about Donut King’s donuts all day, but you’ll just have to go check them out for yourselves. If you live in the Orlando area or are visiting the Central Florida area on vacation, this is a food destination you must stop at and experience.

i love donut king!! thanks Droolius for the scoop! also, my fave is the original glazed, or as i like to call it the OG
My fave of theirs is the powdered jelly. Perfect filling : donut ratio!
Forget the so-so donuts–does the Winter Park Donut King have the Cajun food?! I’ve seen several reviews so far and NO ONE has mentioned the delicious fried fish, shrimp, gumbo or even the sliders that are the ONLY reason to drive an hour to Donut King in Minneola.
I agree, Suzanne!
The Orlando/Winter Park location will not have the Cajun food from what they have told me. Breakfast sandwiches and burger sliders will round out the menu. I have had the Cajun dishes, fried shrimp, and even donut burger in Minneola and they are all great. Worth the visit to Minneola, but the main attraction will always be donuts in Orlando
