It’s hard to believe that I started this food blog five years ago and it has been quite the experience in eating food, traveling for food, and learning about food in different cultures. From watching subtitled episodes of Iron Chef in Japan to various cooking shows and chef competitions, I’ve been able to discover the food I’ve seen on TV, travel to some of the destinations, and even meet some of my food heroes (that sounds like a future blog post). I’m very thankful for where this blog has taken me and I always celebrate every blog anniversary with food.
To continue my yearly tradition I wanted something that I have not done in the past. I needed five of some type of food that would look great in a photo and something we would enjoy eating. So here’s what I came up with: five scoops of gelato stacked high. The results were better than what I imagined. Plus, it’s something fun to celebrate my actual birthday!

Celebrating in this unique way, I requested a waffle cone of 5 scoops of gelato stacked high at Lickety Split inside the Four Seasons Resort Orlando. Brittany at Lickety Split helped us out and did an awesome job by perfectly adding each scoop on top of each other and putting a garnish on each layer. This was her first time stacking five scoops and I’d say she did an amazing job. The flavors starting from the bottom were Peach Green Tea, Blood Orange, Mango, Birthday Cake, and Mixed Berry on top. All of the gelato flavors were so good with pronounced flavors and a smooth gelato texture. It was a fun time sharing the gelato with Lady Droolius and friends. Thanks to OD aka Lady Droolius for being the hand model and holding this heavy gelato creation.
We are currently celebrating the 5 year blogiversary with a staycation at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort. Many food photos to come in a blog post from our experience. For now, we are basically flooding our social media channels and posting many photos on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and videos on Snapchat (follow Droolius) during our stay. It’s a great resort to celebrate any anniversary with lots of pools to enjoy and a few top notch restaurants to eat at.
So five years down of blogging and hopefully five more years to come. I’ve been very blessed with many opportunities to pursue my passions of food, photography, and culinary travel. I look forward to experiencing more of the world through food and travel. With trips to the Philippines and Ireland earlier this year, it can only get more international in the future. Thanks for joining me and being part of the food journey!
