The middle of August marked the 8 year blog anniversary. I started to celebrate this anniversary with a giveaway, but I also had to keep up the tradition and celebrate with food. Droolius 7 Year Blog Anniversary

It’s hard to believe I started this blog 7 years ago. A project created to showcase my photography has turned into a brand, with opportunities to travel and also teach food photography. Speaking at conferences and teaching how to photograph food has become a regular occurrence in the past year. We hosted our first Capture the Bite workshop which was a success with food and travel influencers at Disney World. We have more photography workshops planned in the near future and those will be announced as details unfold. Ok enough reflecting, let’s get to the food! To celebrate this occasion we stopped at Jollibee, a Filipino fast food restaurant from the Philippines, for lunch with the family and ended with Halo Halo for dessert. No better way to celebrate than sharing this nostalgic Filipino dessert with my family who was in town for my uncle’s 90th birthday celebration and a mini-family reunion. “Halo Halo” means “mix mix”, which is what you do when eating this dessert. Droolius 5 Year Blog Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that I started this food blog five years ago and it has been quite the experience in eating food, traveling for food, and learning about food in different cultures. From watching subtitled episodes of Iron Chef in Japan to various cooking shows and chef competitions, I’ve been able to discover the food I’ve seen on TV, travel to some of the destinations, and even meet some of my food heroes (that sounds like a future blog post). I’m very thankful for where this blog has taken me and I always celebrate every blog anniversary with food. To continue my yearly tradition I wanted something that I have not done in the past. I needed five of some type of food that would look great in a photo and something we would enjoy eating. So here’s what I came up with: five scoops of gelato stacked high. Droolius 4 Year Blog Anniversary

Another year of food blogging is in the history books and today is the Droolius 4 year blog anniversary. Many things to be grateful for and I’ve enjoyed sharing my food travels with you all. Food and travel from L.A. to Manila to Tokyo, lots of food photos and travel stories to still share here. I’m always sharing the food on the @Droolius Instagram for daily updates, so find me there if there is a slow down on the blog. I celebrate every blogiversary with food and this year I wanted to make it even more epic. Droolius 3 Year Blog Anniversary

Today marks the 3 year anniversary of the Droolius Blog. The simple food blog project that I started to display my photography and to share my love for food, has turned into a brand that I am very proud of. I’ve been blessed with some great opportunities from collaborating with people who love food to interviewing some of my favorite chefs and meeting some of the people I respect in the culinary world. So many reasons to celebrate today and I’ve received lots of encouragement via social media to eat some doughnuts.   (click image to enlarge) Today is also my birthday and I officially launched the blog on this day, way back when, to help spread the word about my project. The “Candied Droolius” – YumYum Red Velvet Cupcake w/ candied Big Wheel Bacon

A few months ago I was contacted by the Yum Yum Cupcake Truck about doing a collaboration on a cupcake. Basically I would give them a few ideas for a cupcake and they would create one. I’ve always wanted to create my own cupcake with a bake shop, and this was the perfect opportunity. I let them know the Droolius blog anniversary was coming up in August and we all agreed it would be the perfect time to release a cupcake in honor of the 2-year Anniversary.   (click image to enlarge) When I thought of flavor combinations that I liked, I suggested “strawberry with coconut shavings”, vietnamese coffee, matcha green tea, “peanut butter and jelly”. Those were possible contenders for a “Droolius Cupcake”, but those didn’t really push creativity. I wanted something that screams “DROOLIUS” and is more of a signature flavor combo, so I thought BACON. Not sure if Yum Yum would even consider doing another cupcake with bacon (which they made one last Fall), but I went ahead and pitched them on …

Droolius Food Blog 1 Year Anniversary

This past August 14th officially marked the 1 year anniversary of the Droolius Food Blog. What started out as a small project for myself has turned into a full-fledged website that keeps me busier than I ever expected. I’ve spent the past 2 weeks reflecting where this blog has gone, the photos taken, the places traveled to, every where I have eaten and shared with you all. It has been a fun experience to share the information and photos, and I hope everything has had a positive and helpful impact. I plan on continuing to work on this blog for the long haul and curious to see where it takes me, as a photographer, writer, blogger, and more.
