Remember last year when the infamous Cronut was the food item to have? Well, Walt Disney World has it’s own version at Epcot now and it’s called Croissant Donut. This new dessert snack was announced last December 2013 on the Disney Parks Blog and I finally got a chance to try it the other day. How does it taste? It tastes great!

The Croissant Donut is only available at one location: at the Refreshment Port, on the right side as you enter Epcot’s World Showcase. There are no crazy lines here, but I think once the word get’s out more about the Croissant Donut, there will be.

Croissant Donut tossed in Cinnamon Sugar
The Croissant Donut comes out warm and flaky, covered in cinnamon and sugar. The outside is crisp like a traditional croissant and the inside is soft, doughy, and has a little pull like a good yeast donut. In each bite you experience the crisp outer layers, the sweetness from the cinnamon and sugar, and a donut finishing flavor. This is really addicting and no matter how slow I tried to eat it, I pretty much devoured it and wanted another one. After finishing one, I find that the Croissant Donut is fairly light compared to a regular donut. At $4.49 each, the Croissant Donut is meant to be eaten slowly and to savor each bite.
I’ve see the original Cronut at Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City, but they were sold out so I didn’t get a taste one. I did ask to take a photo of a pair of Cronuts and they are smaller and look more delicate. I really can’t compare the original Cronut to Disney’s version (yet), but the Croissant Donut is a larger pastry than the Cronut. When I get a chance to have the original Cronut, I’ll do a comparison and let you know what I think between the two. The Cronut has sparked a world wide phenomena in the food world and I think there is room for variations, as long as they are good. The Croissant Donut at Epcot is a good version. I have tried others that have created a similar pastry, but not as good as this one.
I think the Croissant Donut is a great addition to the food line up at Epcot. It’s a must stop for anyone who loves donuts or desserts. Try one for yourself and let me know what you think in the comments below. If you’ve eaten the original Cronut and have tried the Disney Croissant Donut, please let me know your thoughts as well.
Happy Eating!

I can’t wait to try this!! eeee
I had it a couple of weeks ago. I liked it, but I can’t say that it’s a “must have” item every time I go to Epcot. Crispy on the outside, kind of gooey, doughy on the inside.
WHAT!?!?! How did I not know they had this!?!? I need to get to Epcot STAT!
Katie, you would enjoy it 🙂
I miss the Goofy bar and the cookie dough brownie, so glad Disney introduced this addictive little goody! I may even like it better than a dole whip.
